It would have to be "b," because genes are viewable under a high powered microscope.

It's genes. Only half of the genes that you recieve from your parents are what you see when you look in the mirror. The other half are still part of your genetic make-up, but you would have to actually go to a lab to find out what they were. So, the answer is A. If you get a characteristic from your parents, you can see it...otherwise how would you know you have it?

"Ill posed question. So, I would be forced to say A."

It's a very incompetent 'scientist' who can't read and understand so simple a question. It's not the question that's "ill posed"' rather, jonmcn - it's YOU!

'Both heredity and the environment shape our personalities, but heredity is usually more important in this process. However, our values, beliefs, and expectations are mostly a result of socialization and unique experiences that he have.'

So if heredity and environment together shapes our personalities (you can't 'see' a personality, it only exists internally, 'within') then the choice is 'b'. Also to an extent passed on genetically and greater than initially thought is an individual's disposition (temperament) - this discovery is recent. Anyway, EXTERNAL manifestations of inherited characteristics might include crooked teeth and a big nose. There you have it, internal (innate, hidden) and viewable external characteristics - covered.

Someone here has characteristics confused with character. "Character" is abstract and besides, how do you 'measure' character objectively anyway? You can only 'measure' observable behaviors (Skinner). Obviously you can measure crooked teeth and a big nose - which are visible, physical characteristics which can be passed on genetically.

no! it's A. i dont know how old the 2 people who answered above are but i'm in college and have gone through a billion biology classes and TRUST me, it is A. the reason some can be seen while others can't depends on if it is a recessive or dominant gene.

Character is what is developed from traits you are born with. It can not be passed on from your parents.

Ill posed question. So, I would be forced to say A.

Your " cut and paste " life is what is really ill posed " object. " Do you have an original thought in that rather narrow head of yours? Characteristics mean " traits ", some what as your obdurate obscurantism would be defined.
B is most definitely wrong, as the first poster pointed out, but in your blustering ignorance you have missed the point again!

Only a base born coward attacks continually from ambush; entirely you.

scientifically speaking genes and characteristics are interchangeable. So I will say both.

Jeans can be seen, so can characteristics. Are we in class.

If we are then I might go another answer but you sound like a teacher who knows the answer so I want, yet.

the question is kinda tricky, but i'll say A since there are recessive and dominate genes.

you can't actually "see" a gene, but you can see red hair or freckles!

I've never seen a gene, so it's got to be B.
