I am nursing and my son was 3 months old when his cousins gave him a cold, he was sneezing and had a really stuffy nose. I called the Dr office, they recommended that i bring him in (i was SOOO panicked) because he was so young, oftentimes it could be something more serious....but it wasn't. So the Dr told me that i should use a humidifier, and raise his mattress (i just put a phone book under the part of the mattress his head goes). Put 3-4 saline drops (little noses, or 1tsp salt to 6oz luke warm water) in each nostril and then use a bulb (i think it is called a nasal aspirator) to suck out all the mucus. i did this 3 times a day, or before meal time (so he could breathe while eating). It worked very well... within 3 days he was better. The only thing is that i needed to hold his head & arms so he didnt squirm too much, and i i had to be careful to not push the bulb too far up his nose, because the dr told me that can cause irratation in the nasal cavity. DONT give babies any medications without talking to your dr 1st... babies that young are not reccommended to have multiple ingredient medicines. The only medicine he could take is infant tylonol, and thats only if he has a fever.
I could tell he wasnt feeling well cuz he looked sad, and he wasnt nursing as easily as before. When he was breathing i could hear the snot in his nose, & he was really fussy (he is normally a 100% HAPPY baby, he only fusses when he is hungry, or needs to be changed).

My son was 8 almost 9 months old. He got really sick and considering I lived in NY and we were really cold at the time he got double ear infections with pink eye in both eyes and was running a fever of 104.5 It was really sad because I tried my best with everything. But I made sure he got better fast!!!! It is very easy they get fussy and a runny nose but not usually with the runny nose alot of children get fussy and the cheecks turn pink to a redish just showing off that they could be getting a cold or even sick!

My first child got sick at around four months, she started off by just being a bit hot. That lasted a few days, she was grumpy and would cry for no reason at all. I had taken her to the doctor the first day i noticed she was sick, was waiting for blood and urine ( hard to get from baby ) results. The next night while waiting for results ( had appointment next day ) she refused to eat for 8 hours, she was being breastfed and not on solids, wouldn't stop crying. Rushed straight to hospital and of course when we got there she was happy and ate. Anyways she had a urinary tract infection. So after that long story signs they are sick
♥ fever
♥ crying
♥ loss of appetite
♥ unhappy
you will be able to tell if your little girl is sick that is what mothers are best at

I don't remember exactly how old she was, but she's been "sick" several times, starting around 8 weeks old I'd say. I was really disappointed because she's breastfed and I thought I'd have the healthiest baby! She hasn't been extremely sick, she does seem to have sinus/allergy problems, which is really bad in IN, and she's prone to ear infections like her daddy, so we're just extra careful with her ears. She's a strong, overall healthy girl though, so she bounces back quickly.
For us, it was easy to tell she was sick - she was obviously cranky, had a runny nose, couldn't breath (a little breastmilk up the nose helps clear that up), and when she has an ear infection, she tugs, or digs at her ears. It's no fun watching your little one be miserable!

my first one was about 4 days old. there was a little boy that came and seen us with his family and he had strep throat and i did not know it and he kissed my baby on the cheek and he also had an upper respiratory infection so of course my child got very sick from him and had to be sent to nicu under a oxygen mask that was a bad feeling because his oxygen level got so low.i had to sign papers saying that if he needed a breathing tube it was ok to do it that was horrible since that was my first baby.
My second child didn't get sick till he was about 4 months old and he had strep throat. that was our biggest thing with him so they had to remove his tonsils. he is two and just had them removed 4 weeks ago. he had strep 10 times in two years.

my son was a week old and he started throwing up alot and would not wake up to eat, took him to the ER, I have never been through there so fast, it seemed like every doctor was taking my baby. He was vomiting all the way to the room, barely having a chance to breath in between the hurls. Scariest thing ever!! Don't even want to remember that.

My son (now 3) got the flu at about 7 months old-I freaked out!!
I took him to the doctor and they told me to just keep nursing him and make sure he didn't have signs of dehydration.
Of course,as babies usually do,he was better within a couple days.

My oldest was close to a year, my second 2 months, and my third was about 6 months.
It is easy to tell, they just don't seem o.k. either extra fussy and sleeping isn't helping, running a fever, congestion, coughing, etc. All these are some of the signs. It is actually surprising, as the mommy you will actually just know cause they just won't be acting like themselves.
