The dust and the thirst and the endless miles
Black flies and Indians and dead oxen by the roadside
We gritted out teeth and clutched our Bibles
and tried not to think of the ones who died
A bright shining dream led us on
Hope for the future our truest guide
The Oregon trail stretched out upon
a land that seemed so harsh and wide

Your request speaks volumes...you don't ask for help, you "demand" it NOw!!!!? This is "your" homework and it was given to you for a reason. 8 lines of rhymed poetry is not too much to ask. You don't need to rhyme every line, you could write 8 lines of slant rhyme and rhyme every other line...the words that rhyme can be simple ones and you don't have to use the word "trail" at the end of any line if you don't want to rhyme with "trail". If you know the story of those on the Oregon trail, or even if you don't, you can imagine what it was like to travel by wagon train for months through desert, mountains, forest, the plains, all the while worrying about taking an arrow in the chest by the Indians who were watching you move along. 8 lines...4 words that rhyme...and you demand help. I have confidence that you can write your own poem...so stop acting spoiled and just take the 3 or 4 minutes to write your own poem...in the end you'll be a better person for it, even if you don't think so now.
