I have to agree with the Leafs-Habs voters. Good Original Six matchup. see below:

Maple Leafs-Canadiens Rivalry

The rivalry between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens is the oldest and most bitter rivalry in the history of the National Hockey League. From 1944 to 1978, the two teams met each other in the playoffs 12 times, and faced off in five Stanley Cup Finals. While the on-ice competition is fierce, the Maple Leafs-Habs rivalry is actually symbolic of a much deeper cleavage in Canadian history and society — that between English- and French-Canadians.

But I also like the Rangers-Islanders series given the longer history there going back to the late 70's and early 80's vs the more recent Rangers-Devils matchups which are pretty good too.

Sad to say there isn't one anymore....The NHL is so messed up....too many teams...too little talent left anymore!! The NHL has become a dump & chase game with players that should be linebackers in football....teams like the Minnesota Wild that are over coached & waste talent they have on boring defensive styles, which is the thing in the NHL now! The "new" rules have done nothing to change a game which should be exciting, not boring!!

i'm partial to Rangers vs. Islanders (being a Rangers fan and all.) however the Habs vs. Bruins opposition will in basic terms get greater beneficial now that the two communities are aggressive back. All-time, i will would desire to pass with Montreal vs. Toronto. i know how plenty Sens followers hate the Leafs, yet they're incredibly interlopers. Habs vs. Leafs is a classic.

Realistically: Leafs/Habs, Leafs/Sabres or Rags/Isles.
Ideally: I long for the days of Blues/Blackhawks. the early 90's games between the two were the best hockey games I've ever seen. It wasn't just the Note against the Hawks, it was Cujo Vs. the Eagle, Roenick vs. Hull, Chelios vs. everybody. The sweep in '93 was one of my favorite memories of being a Blues fan. Belfour still refuses to play in St. Louis, with the exception being when he came in to relieve Turek. Beeeelllllllllll-ffoooooouuuurrrrr!!!!!!!

Red Wings and Avalanche. Ever since Darren McCarty hammered Claude Lemux it's been a big game. Also, since last year's playoffs Red Wings and Ducks are competative.
