John Edwards was the first in his family to go to college. His father worked for a mill and his mom was a post office worker. Despite not being born a spoiled brat, he managed to graduate with honors from college and went on to be pretty succesful.
Any other candidates like that on the Republican or Democrat side?

Neoconkiller,
If I'm not mistaken, Bill Richardson was the son of a rich ambassador to Mexico. Maybe not ambassador but something important in Mexico.
I read he made friends with poor kids in Mexico. So eventhough he was born well off he has experience with those that weren't.

I believe Kucinich came from a poor family--the family sometimes living out of their car between frequent moves.
Mike Gravel was the son of working class immigrants.
Joseph Biden's father was a car salesman, whether well-off or not I don't know.
Obama claims to be from a middle class background, but because he grew up overseas, I don't know how that would compare.
The early life of the Republicans doesn't matter much because whatever was worthy in their past is wasted now.

Barkley is amazingly promising. plenty will count on the O-coordinator and the schemes if Barkley gets to play, the O-line and receivers which will in fantastic condition into Kelly's device. Palmer became an surprising QB yet due his harm and different issues on the Bengals - issues replaced. bear in mind Jim Plunkett ? He had little help with the Patriots which just about destroyed his profession yet got here across himself with the Raiders. this is greater beneficial than in simple terms the QB understanding - there are lots of of things that would desire to be performed out. I do desire Barkley has a great profession. i think of he's matched up with the right preparation team.

Hillary Clinton was not the first in her family to attend college, her father had done so. But her parents and her upbringing were very middle class Midwestern, growing up in Park Ridge, Illinois. Her father operated a small business and her mom was a homemaker who never attended college. They were certainly not rich, and Hillary was not spoiled. She graduated valedictorian of Wellesley with honors in political science and went on to Yale Law School.

Ok. Now, if we could move on to relevant presidential characteristics. I actually like Edwards. The fact that he was the first in his family to go to college strikes me as being about as relevant as his $400 haircut though (which is not at all.) I would rather have an elitist bastard who knew what he was doing as president than a likable guy who pulled himself up by the bootstraps but had no clue about, say, foreign policy.
