I've seen this a lot lately from conservatives...

but, it seems to me that Iran would like to be a "bully" but simply doesn't have the capability...

I mean Iraq beat them in the 80s... and we rolled over the Iraqi army like a paper cup...

I mean maybe if they had nukes... maybe... but they are apparently years away from that still...

Far from it.

This is just a blatant violation of Godwin's Law. By comparing Nazi Germany to the Iranian regime, they are simply trivializing the events of the Holocaust and Hitler's despicable acts in order to make a political point. Pathetic.

God no it's one of the reasons the today's brand of conservatism can't be taken seriously, as if Iran, an oil nation, who has to import gas, could somehow mount the Army and get the loyalty of it's citizens to make war on the level of Hitler, what a joke. Anyone who READS knows several things, first the youth of the country are feel favorable to the west though bombing thier country might change that, second the president has little power, and finally the do not have the financial resources to to build the type of military to mount the attacks we saw the Germans do in WW2. Look when Iran's former president, who was a MODERATE, was at the helm Bushco claimed he was powerless, now the the nutcase is president suddenly he has the power, I gotta ask which is there folks you can't have it both ways the president of Iran is either little more than a figure head or the most ruthless leader since Hitler, given the fact the the Mullahs actually hold thew most sway over the nation I bet the former don't you

Not at all I'll spare you the details of why and how unless you insist - but Hitler and the Nazis are the great evil of our time so if you want ot create fear and loathing in your audience while short-circuiting reasoning you invoke them.

Notice Saddam was also compared to Hitler? As is Bush, ironically so is Hilary etc. etc. etc.

Be careful though with comparisons to fascism. Fascism is a distinct political movement with discernible features such as:

1. Extreme Nationalism (this may or may not be infused with racism)
2. Authoritarian/totalitarian government
3. Varying degrees of capitalist economics
4. Operates under the "leader principle" - the leader is the focus of reverence and power.
5. Strong themes of a unified culture and a "chosen people" (the German "volk" ideology)

Fascism existed in Spain until the 50's

Islamo-fascism is actually a misnomer (see the above definitions). What you see in Islam is basically totalitarian theocracies. Theocracy hits a little too close to home for many conservatives so they avoid the word and use the term Isalmo-fascism to discreetly invoke Hitler while avoiding the scrutnity of using terms like "America is a Christian Nation.".

As history-abiding Jewish Mystic, I see fascism rather
as symbolizing the anytime executable death penalty.
It comes from the times, Rome was an Aristocracy yet.

National-Socialism was a Dictatorship using the race card.
In Iran, some racist-kind sentiments may be in the game,
like against Arabs (yeah go figure) and, also against Jews,
but it is not main motto like in Germany with their enduring
"Greatest Country Ever" a-yodel under Hitler. "Herrenrasse"
was nonsense anyway, Russians belong to the same race.
He dropped on his head in WW1, and wanted jewish money.
while Iran is rather like, Some Popes plus Spanish Inquisition.
Ambitions for Total World Domination are inclusive, thus.

No, Nazi Germany was almost from the beginning in a war for total world domination. Iran has yet to starts its first offensive war and it probably never will

No. Not Iran. The the Patroit Act has some similiarities to Nazi Germany. The the use of Torture to get information when this process has already proven faulty but you use it anyway is a good cmparision to the cruel Nazi Germany.

Well both are countries, and both countries have an A in their name, and after that, it seems to be a stretch to find serious similarities. much can change in a few years but thousands of Iranians willing to kill their own people for a leader...I don't see it.....Many Jews live in Iran, the issue is Israel, not Jews

Depends on the glass you look through.
Iran does dislike Jews.
It is oppressive, and led by a figurehead with many leaders standing back in the shadows.
It sensors all talk against the government, and kills homosexuals, atheists, and has and continues to kill those of other faiths.
It detests western culture.
Germany it may be, but only through these lenses.

Remember that Germany was far more treacherous in their acts of mass murder, oppression, and censorship.
I would personally choose Iran over Germany any day.

No...it really isn't. Iran is a nation facing no small amount of Religious subjugation. Ever want to see how dangerous Religion can be to a nation...just look at Iran.
