No there is no danger. Just disconnect the negative first, then disconnect the positive. Take out the old battery, then put in the new one. Now connect the positve and then the negative. There is no danger what so ever, don't be afraid.
The only thing dangerous I can think of that can possible happen is if you puncture the battery, which I can't imagine why you would do that. Basically you would be injured by the battery acid.
You should be fine though.

Always disconnect the ground wire first. This cuts down the chances of a spark which could create an explosion.Once you have removed both terminals all you have to do is remove the battery clamp which secures the battery.Be careful not to get any battery acid on your skin as it will burn you.In the event of this happening ,wash the affected area with cold water as soon as possible. It is recommended that you wear gloves to prevent this scenario. It should be a straight forward procedure if you have the correct tools to carry out the job.Make sure that you connect up the replacement to the correct terminals.

Take the battery out.
When wrenching make sure you don't touch any metal(ground) as this can damage your fuses.
Clean the cables inside and out before you install the new battery, use a wire brush
Install new battery, connect red cable first, black cable last.
NO DANGERS HERE, THE SYSTEM IS ONLY 12 VOLTS. THE HUMAN BODY BECOMES A CONDUCTOR AT AROUND 45-50 VOLTS , SO YOU WON'T EVEN FEEL A 12 V CURRENT

Most places that sell the battery will install it for free (Sears for example).
If you still want to do it, loosen the wires first. If they are really corroded, use a wire brush to clean them (don't get the residue on your clothes - it's acid and will put holes in them). You may need to pry them off. If you use a screwdriver make sure you touch no other metal while in contact with the battery terminals. Lift the Battery out and put in the new one. Replace the terminals and you're good to go.
Good Luck!

Dont smoke when changing it, just loosen the cable ends and remove them, then remove the bolt that holds the battery down, then put new battery in, put hold down bolt on, and put terminals on, very simple

Make sure you get the right model number & size.
Follow the manual exactly, about the connection sequence.
Do not let any metallic objects bridge the posts.

nothing should go wrong with doing this job unless you touch the wrong cables to the wrong battery post, then you can expect sparks to fly, other wise it should go pretty smooth for you, just don't get in a big hurry with it,and you,ll be alright with it,good luck.

Yes it's easy, just don't touch both contacts at once and ALWAYS disconnect the negative (black) cable first.
Here's a tutorial if you need more info
