The only thing the real estate schools do is teach you how to pass your state real estate exam.

Once you have accomplished this feat, it is up to you to educate yourself on other aspects of the real estate industry that you want to excel in.

You should also make sure you have a copy of your state's continuing education requirements. This is required for you to continue to be a real estate agent in your state.

Now the stuff you speak of in your question might or might not be apart of the continuing education requirements. These type subjects are for your on edification.

Each state has it's own requirements so hit the Internet for your state and find out the requirements. You should be able to find out by going to a site such a California department of real estate or whatever state you are located in.

If you just want to buy and sell your own real estate you do not need a real estate license. You only need a real estate license if you plan to sell other peoples house and work for a real estate brokerage firm.

To pass the real estate exam you will be taught everything you need to know. You will not need any experience at all.

I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

Generally, you can expect that your state Real Estate Agent License Exam will consist of 80-100 multiple-choice questions about general real estate concepts (like the questions in this test preparation product), and 60-80 questions specific to state licensing laws. Most states administer the tests in two parts, and require that the candidate pass both.

The general part of the Exam is broken into several categories, similar to the categories you will see in this sample practice test below. The sample was written by Karen Bohler, Real Instructor, Broker and Curriculum Developer. The sample includes just 1 question per section.

A real estate license is for selling property owned by someone else. You do not need a license to sell your own property. There is normally two parts of the real estate exam. The law part which covers real estate law in your State, and the real estate part which covers basic property concepts such as acreage, understanding land description, types of deeds, disclosures, contracts, and appraisals. It won't teach how to fix a house or how to flip it. Talk to a Realtor to find out where the local real estate school is at, then call them for cost of the school and the test.

Taking the real estate classes will give you an over view of writing and negotiating the contract, property management issues, and principles, laws and ethics relating to the real estate transaction. You may want to take the classes, and if you want the license, that is a separate test administered by TREC, but is not required. If you are planning to buy and sell real estate for a commission, you will need to have a license, and hang your license with a TREC broker. If you are only buying and selling real estate for yourself, as an investor, a license is not required. The TREC real estate classes will not teach you how to make repairs, nor how to inspect or appraise a property. It will teach you how to price it right. What else? Depends which state you're in. In Colorado you can get your license in about 3 months if you go full time. They only teach you the law. Nobody teaches you how to start or succeed.
