No...he asked it to make Dennis look stupid. Aren't debates abount discovering each candidate's position on a particular issue?? Russert should asked each of the candidates if they had a position on UFO's or simply not asked it at all.
These debates are a joke. Why not just let Leeza Gibbons conduct them and ask equally stupid questions.
I am sick of the moderators doing their TV act with these debates. It's insulting to the candidates and to the American people.
So what is Dennis saw an unidentified light in the sky. Our current President receives direction from God. Why not ask each of the candidates if they talk to God...and if so what does he say to them.
Just a thought.

I think Tim Russert just wanted to poke fun at Dennis Kucinich.
But you have to love Dennis Kucinich, he does not play politics, he tells you exactly what's in his heart and what's on his mind, regardless of how it looks to others.
I love his honesty. He knows people are going to make fun of him, but he is still truthful.
He is the Congressman from my home state. And I would vote for him in a heart beat.
He wants to end the war immediately.
He wants to pay African Americans reparations for slavery.
He wants to impeach Bush and Cheney.
He is 60 years old and have a wife who is around 30.
Dennis Kucinich is my hero.

More likely because of his height. He could have been a 'Grey' in a really good human suit.

He didn't say aliens. He said UFO. Which is true, because it was Unidentified.
