Among other basic facts, you need to know that i, the square root of -1, when squared , by definition equals -1. So whenever you get i^2 replace it by -1.
Second you need to know the distributive property which says, in this case, that when you multiply binomials such as
(a-b)(a-b) you multiply a in the first parenthesis times the a and -b in the second, then multiply the -b in the first parenthesis times the same a and -b in the second.
So, (6-2i)^2 = (6-2i)(6-2i)
= 6(6-2i) -2i(6-2i) = 6(6) - 6(2i) - 2i(6) - 2i(-2i)
= 36 -12i -12i + 4i^2
= 36 -24i + 4(-1) = 36 -24i - 4
= 32 -24i

use the equation: a^2(plus or minus depending on the sign inside parentheses) 2ab+b^2 to find the answer to a sum of two numbers squared.
(6-2i)^2 then becomes:
6^2-2(6)(2i)+(2i)^2
36-12(2i)+(2i)^2
36-24i+(4)(i^2)
and thats ur answer. if u want to further simplify this problem, simply take 4 as the common.
4(9-6i+i^2) that is the simplest version u can get.
bye bye

(6 - 2i)^2
= (6 - 2i)(6 - 2i)
= 36 - 12i - 12i + 4i^2
= 36 - 24i + 4i^2
= 36 - 24i + 4(-1); i = sqrt(-1)
= 36 - 24i - 4
= 32 - 24i

(6-2i)^2 = 36 - 24i + 4i^2
But i^2 = -1
so
(6-2i)^2 = 36 - 24i + 4i^2 = 36 - 24i - 4 = 32-24i

(6-2i)²
= 6² - 2*6*(2i) + (2i)²
= 36 - 24i - 4
= 32 - 24i

Use the foil rule and remember that i² = -1.
You get 36 -24i +4i² = 32-24i.

do it like this:
(6-2i)(6-2i)
36-12i-12i+4isquared
=36-24i-4 isquared = -1
=32-24i is your answer

(6-2i)(6-2i)
36 - 12i - 12i + 4i^2
4i^2 - 24i +36
or you could factor out a 4 from it and it would look like this
4(i^2 -6i + 9)
