It's essentially a mouse, a lot of companies didn't bother to remove them when REAL mouses were invented, when they upgrade, if you want to use it, you can just change it to that mouse in controll pannel. If it doesn't have that option you can get a driver from your computers manufacturer....

You are using a Laptop, it's to control your mouse icon, it was used before the touch pad. It's like a little joystick. It's not necessary you have to use it.
