What sports are they famous for? Do they have maternities or faternities? A step team? Why would you want to go there?

I graduated from there so Iif you have more specific questions you can IM me.

UMass-Boston used to be known as "Boston State College" until around 1968 when was absorbed. Although now a part of the UMass system, the school has its own mascot (the Beacons) separate from the Minutemen which belong to UMass-Lowell.

It's located on Columbia Point, south of downtown Boston and right on the water. The JFK Presidential Library is right next to the campus.

As the previous responder has noted, it is a commuter school with no on-campus housing, though there are plans to build at least one dormitory.

Let me break it down for you, what I liked and disliked about the college:

Pros
* Very multicultural student body
* Beautiful location on the ocean and with good views of Boston
* Affordable tuition and good value
* Accessible by public transportation
* Overall I was satisfied with the quality of education received

Cons
* Scarcity of student parking (if you're driving), though this is going to be a problem at any Boston-area college
* I was never happy with the quality of guidance received from my counselor(s)
* Aesthetics. Although the location is nice, I never liked the campus itself; it's an ugly mountain of concrete and brick, and the buildings are showing their age
* As one of the only public universities in Greater Boston, the school's image and reputation are badly overshadowed by the numerous elite colleges in the area.

If I had to do it over again, I would've paid a lot more money to attend a school like Northeastern, which has a terrific co-op program for students. But don't let that deter you. I'm just giving you my opinions.

Good luck.

It's a commuter school, no student housing. JFK library is right next door. It has a great location right on the water and on the T. The professor's are really good there so you will get a good education. The sports teams aren't that great.

Why can we devour a 5,000 calorie salad to shed pounds? And a wedge of cheesecake with a 'weight-loss plan' soda.....hmmmm Why? because cheesecake is awesomely impressive. The weight-loss plan soda is undesirable for ya in spite of the indisputable fact that! hmmm lol =D EDIT: i'm getting dizzy! Too many lano's...
