the problem is that when it gets cold it wont start it will make a grinding sound, kinda like the sound when your car is already on and you crank it again and it makes that grinding sound i already know its the starter because i had to go down and tap it a few times and my car is a 1995 ford contour 6 cylinder engine

depends on where you are (labor rates), type of car,
new starter, rebuilt, refurbished (all priced different)
the labor they are going to hit you for about 2 hours at anywhere from $35.00 per hour to $100.00 per hour
most aftermarket starters such as from pep boys or auto zone will run you $150.00 to $200.00

What kind of car makes a difference. It could be anywhere from $40 to $200 plus the cost of the starter.

depending on where your starter is figure 1hr for labor plus parts

some cars you can get to the starter with out removing anything else but on others you need to damn near take the car apart
