I really don't get it. It is not doing anything for public relations, and the methods they are using (such as water-boarding) have been proven to be useless. No-one wins, not even them, why?

No, I would not be one of the people loudly yelling that Bush doesn't torture people enough. I would rather have a terrorist attack than lose civil liberties.

yes, we WANT 'secrets' but what those of US at home FORGET is torture a way to get the prisoners to SAY WHATEVER the captors want them to say.

imagine YOU (no sweetie not the asker) are on YOUR way home from work.
you get arrested and DENIED a lawyer
then YOUR CAPTORS want you to CONFESS to a murder. and they reach whatever the 'BREAKPPOINT' is for YOU. (not for me, not for your mom, not for you sister... the the breakpoint for YOU)

personally i don't believe in WITCHES. and most people in the mainstream a society don't. however, during the salem witch hunt or the those in europe, many many people confessed to be witches when they weren't. and consequently lost their lives. all behind the MYth that people BELIEVE that prisoners will tell the TRUTH under torture.

how about a bit of more recent history.
the vietnam vets in 'hanoi hilton' that had to write CONFESSION and go on worldwide news and read these (essentially) lies. while their loved ones here in the US had to watch.

granted there are those that would rather DIE than lie... even under torture (or even EXTREME torture) are YOU one of those.
i am NOT so convince that I am.

two more things:
1) lets' not forget Hitler's germany & his crimes against humanity and
2) at what price are YOU willing to get the truth.
what if it were YOUR child in Gitmo?

If that's solely needed, then that's justified in my opinion. occasion: A suicide bomber assaults an airport and one in all his accomplices is captured. If he does not supply ideas on a pending 2d assault or the different ideas our government feels the ought to understand, torture is a in charge determination. Drowning one Terrorist a million/2 thank you to dying is unquestionably greater suited than one hundred's of harmless human beings dropping their lives. the vast majority of torture that occurs at Guantanamo and different federal prisons has a different reason. everybody is many times antagonistic to it because of the fact they are not getting WHY we torture human beings. Torturing terrorist suspects is solely justified.

Water boarding isn't torture. Scaring the holy beJesus out of somebody isn't torture. I don't care how you scare them. Torture is hot pokers, pliers, electrical devises, blunt instruments, the rack, etc. Threatening to use these devices is not torture. I may not like it if my kid was being held in Gitmo. Better Gitmo than a cell in an Al Kiada facility. Getting your bible flushed down the toilet, being forced to wear underwear on your head or being forced to join in a circle jerk would be the least of your concerns. They use real torture. They saw your head off with a dull rusty knife. They burn you to death and drag your body through the street for other people to desecrate. If I can use water boarding to get information from some piece of human offal bring on the water board. It apparently does work or they wouldn't waste their time with it. They would use a method that does work. They are using methods that work. Water boarding is one of them. These people are not our friends. They don't have constitutional rights unless they're citizens of this country. They are trying to destroy the western world. Being nice to them isn't going to change their mind.

Your statement is incorrect. Waterboarding has not been proven useless. It is so effective that it is done to our military personnel during training to try and teach them not only how to resist, but to realize that it only simulates drowning(plays a neat little trick with the brain)

You would rather have a terrorist attack than lose your civil liberties? That statement is insane.....What Civil Liberties are you losing when a Terrorist is interrogated by waterboarding?

Please stop your Propaganda and outright lies.........

I really think that if a terrorist act happened again you would be one of the loudest ones yelling that Bush doesn't care enough to get information from these suspected terrorists.
I think it's all about how to destroy Bush.

We are led by brutal thugs who are obsessed with death and violence. That's all I can figure. This torture garbage is coming from David Addington and Cheney, ( an analog to Witch Finder General Hopkins and Torquemada ). Look em up some times. Face it, America has been hijacked by GOP goons who like to plunder the resources of other lightly defended countries and have a taste for blood sports.

terrorists are NOT american citizens. they act upon american soil on behalf of other countries. therefore they are technically spies. technically after all possible information is extracted they should be executed. the case of Andrews Raiders in the civil war is a good example of this scenario without the torture.

You just answered your own question, "suspected terrorists".And even leading Democrats say that in some cases "torture" would be justified.

Water boarding has not proved useless. I hope you heard the Presidents speech today where he addressed that issue.
