If you're the creative type the time will fly once you start doing homemade cards and definitely scrapbooking.Record all the stages and beautiful moments of the babies life for your own pleasure. It doesnt have to be brilliant, just personal. Use photos, baby mementoes etc.
If not, theres nothing like a good book, the radio or good old yahoo!

Try coin collecting. It doesn't have to cost you a lot. You can go to the bank and pick of a box of coin (whichever denomination you like) for exactly face value. A box of pennies is $25, a box of nickels is $100, a box of dimes is $250 and boxes of quarters or half dollars are $500. You don't have to buy the whole box. The bank can pull out whatever amount you like.

Once you get a box, you can go through and pull out the better coins (there are books to help with this or websites). You can pick up a coin album and try to fill all the holes (get one for each year) or just search for interesting ones.

The coins that you don't want can be returned to the bank and put straight back into your account (though it's often better to return the coins to a different bank (not just a different branch but a different bank) so that you don't search the same coins over and over). Everything you find will have been obtained at face value. You'd be surprised what people have found. Check out these links to see:

Also check your change for interesting finds.

Some things to search for: wheat pennies, silver dimes, silver quarters, old coins, error coins, coins with the "S" mintmark - it could be a proof coin etc. There's always the chance that you could find a real treasure!

It's also helpful to buy a red book. It can help you price your coins and will answer many of the questions you may have.

OR IF THAT'S NOT FOR YOU...

Embroidery or simple cross stitch helps pass the time and can be put down and taken up again without a lot of fuss and care. You can go to a crafts store or try an online auction site and purchase some supplies, get a book of designs from the library and find out if you enjoy it or not. I used large pieces of plastic canvas to make a set of pictures for my grandson with left over scraps of wool, cotton and silk yarn and some bead decoration, he still has them on his bedroom walls and is especially fond of the Thomas the Tank Engine picture I made..very satisfying.
There are a number of magazines available, usually with a small embroidery kit attached and. more usefully, special offers inside for other kits and materials..you may find one of them helpful.

I've always loved to quilt and to embroider, so I've incorporated both in doing something called crazyquilting. This is a fun hobby and we CQ'ers always love a newcomer. Below are some links if you want to check it out. If that one doesn't appeal to you, there are lots of other a & c activities out there that would keep you entertained.

Well, glass painting is fab...all you need is a flat surface, a bit of patience and a sun catchers kit. I'm 14 and have being doing it for 8 years. My cousin and I made a big sun catcher and loads of glass-painted cards and boxes for her school play. She's 10.

I babysit sometimes, and watching tv and calling friends is boring and typical. :3
Try some crafts, knitting, crocheting, fun physical fitness, or basically anything that interests you.
