I am really dreading having to go to court. I will be going alone and I wouldn't put it past him to show up with his new wife. I would rather he not show up at all. Then again, he would have to travel about 3 hours and has never had anything to do with his kids.

It depends how it is done, if it is only for a child support order usually no one shows, the Judge just signs it. If he should contest, then you may have to go to court, but it is rare.

Don't you have a lawyer? The lawyer would be with you & do most of the talking. No matter how hard it is, you should go because it shows the judge you mean business. If he doesn't show up, all the better! Why does it bother you that he might bring his new wife? Are you afraid that she will somehow show you up? Any judge who looks at a man with a new wife that is not supporting his children, won't do too well in court!
Do you still care about this dog? Care about your children more, get the money he owes for their support & be glad you are rid of him!

In this type of proceeding, if one party fails to appear in court, the other party wins by default. If you the court to award you child support, you have to be there. If you have an attorney, they may be able to appear on your behalf. Ask your attorney about that.

I'm not sure if you have to be there, but it wouldn't hurt your case. If you don't go, the judge may get the impression that you feel you don't need him to pay child support. And if your ex does show up, it's more likely the judge will rule in his favor if your not there.
