No:
1) With the money you pay him, one player, you could get 5 quality position players or pitchers.
2) Even if he gets you to the post season, what then?

No because the Mets already have a shortstop and a third baseman. They have other holes they have to fill. They don't need Rodriguez. Also he is too much money. They could use the money that they would use on Rodriguez and put it towards a very good starter or to strengthen their bullpen or both. They need to either re-sign LoDuca or Castillo, and if they can't they have to replace them with good players. They also have other important guys they have to sign, such as Marlon Anderson and Ramon Castro. They can't be trying to sign guys they don't need. Especially someone as expemsive as Rodriguez.

You have to look at it 2 ways:
1) Baseball as a business. As a business A Rod is a huge asset, he will increase attendance & increase merchandising and will make any team more money than they pay for him.
2) Baseball as a sport. As a sport A Rod is the last person you want on your team, for a few reasons. He has great regular seasons numbers, but the devil is in the details. He NEVER makes a clutch hit NEVER. Yea he hit 54 homers with 130+ RBI, but he only hits anything when his team is winning, when they are losing he is a garuntteed out every time. So what good are his homers and RBI's impressive yes but useless. Another problem with A Rod on your team, is his salary will dwarf every other player on your team. You can't have 1 player making 40% of your entire payroll, it won't work, there will be too much resentment with the other players. There are only a few teams that can even afford him, and most have publicaly stated they don't want him.

Am a life-long Tiger fan (my apologies in advance to anyone to dislikes them.)
Love to have A-Rod.....doubt if there's a team in the Majors who wouldn't take the guy if the price tag weren't so high. Am guessing he's looking for at least a $100 million, 3-year deal.
Having said that, and fantasizing about having him on the Tigers (ain't gonna happen,) we really don't need a lot of offensive help. We need a "top of the line" veteran southpaw starter and a closer that is very dependable. Todd Jones is just a bit erratic despite his reasobale stats.

IMO A-Rod wants to move back to SS - Where he belongs anyway, at least for the next few years.
I would really hate to have a better than average defensive SS on my team that only hits .320 50HR 150RBI's - Sheesh those guys are a dime a dozen: DUH >"SARCASM"
Heck yes I want Alex Rodriguez on my team - With A-Rod on the Cardinals they would have to pitch to Albert Pujols. What a combo that would make. Probably 100 homeruns and 300RBI's between the two. I will worry about the playoffs when I get there.

Don't want him on the Red Sox. We can get Lowell back for half of what he is asking and a guy who can actually hit in the postseason. MVP..
A-Rod takes up too much money and is a selfish person. He is only concerned about his personal stats and does not cares about others. Teams he has played on do better when he is gone.
He does not bring anything to the clubhouse. The Red Sox have a bunch of guys who can let loose and have fun. A-Rod would ruin that.
Mike Lowell is a clubhouse favorite and a better defensive player. His stats aren't as good as A-Rods but pretty close for half the money.
A-Rod needs to lighten up...

One player does NOT make the whole team. Baseball is a team sport, it requires 9 men to win a game, even if one receives all the kudos.

Of course you want him on your team. It would be insane to say you wouldn't . However with A-Rod comes the baggage and of course his pimp, Scott Boras.
I don't blame either one for trying to get as much money as they can. I do blame ownership for throwing the money out there to be had by A-Rod and other big time players.
The league and I mean all the teams have to finally say NO MORE! It's killing the game and someone needs to step up and save it.
The fact is, no one on earth is worth that kind of money no matter what they do for a living.
