...this is not whether or not you agree with exotic dancing so even if you don't agree with it please try & put that aside & tell me if you think dancers should be eligible for "workers' compensation" like everybody else that is employed by a business the same as somebody that worked at Taco Bell or somewhere else.It isa legal business & we are responsible for paying taxes every year(I do mine quarterly). The reason I ask is that a friend of mine & I know y'all will LOL but she fell off the pole & hurt her neck & she is fighting for workers comp.Should'nt she be eligible? Thanks

True. Exotic dancing is a job, but you are independent contractors so that doesn't qualify for a work man's comp for her falling off the pole. It is not a job where you get a paycheck, you aren't guaranteed money being a dancer so that is why. It would be nice to have that but all they would say is she chose to do it. I think another thing to do with it, actually a big thing is how people look down on dancers like they are low and that is so not true in a lot of cases. Stereotypers.

Thats kinda tricky because if the ordinary employee does something unsafe they will not be eligible for their benefits. Swinging from a pole isn't the most safe, but very entertaining to me. Considering the amount of money to be made, safeguard and put away for that rainy day (or slippery pole)

It seems to me that the owner should have been required to carry workers comp insurance as a requirement for having a business license.

As long as the company is legit and is required to have workers' comp insurance, then yes employees should be eligible.

I ddin't know you guys werent elegible....that's odd.
You guys are just doing your job, just like everyone else, your proffession shouldn't make a difference. Maybe exotic dancer don't get hurt much? I honestly dunno why they wouldn't give her workers comp, but I think that's VERY unfair....I'm sorry I can't be of much help. Hope everything turns out alright.

First, let me say, I have no problem with dancing... I wouldn't do it, but there's no problem with it.

Secondly, if you work for a company, you should have workers comp. It's only fair. I hope your friend gets what she deserves... and gets well soon.

If she works for a salary and pays taxes on her tips, yes.
