I enjoy debating on the IMDB and though I do not take anything personal, never participate in name-calling or allow my threads to get emotional, I saw someone say they could track another poster down via their IP address.

Is this possible?

Thanks

Randall

I imagine its possible if you have a static IP address, but I believe most people do not have one

Your ISP issues your IP Address. And most people have a dynamic IP address that their ISP changes every 24 hours or so. Pretty useless to anyone.

In the USA, the only way to get an ISP to release personal information ( name, telephone, address etc.) about a particular IP address is with a Court Order.

And Court Orders are usually only given out in the case of serious criminal activity.

Relax, all someone can determine from an IP address is the general geographic location. Perhaps narrow you down to one in a million people.

Just to give you a heads up.
YES. Depending on what all is involved.
Don't think for one second it can't be traced.
You need to do a little checking on how the pin-point bombing took place during Operation Desert Storm.
That being the facts of the matter YES YES YES>

How did western union send the funds to him? you immediately need to contact western union before it is too late and see WHERE the funds were sent. You need to notify EBAY- CALL THEM. and report this IMMEDIATELY. I am a buyer on ebay and this past 3 mons. have had to file claim with 4 sellers for items not rec'd from paypal. Ebay should have a record of name and address and phone number. Does this seller sell still on ebay?

Yes, why not? There are always mysteries lurking out in the darkness,...but don't get too paranoid, the chances aren't all that likely, just don't use your real name on the web .

Yes, kind of. They can get pretty close, like in your town.
