I think fate is apart of it but at the same time i believe self will can mangle that into a distortion. I believe God has a plan for us and i dont care who your personal God is. But given self will and being human which all of us are leaves us stuck into making decisions that fulfill our natural human desires and maybe goes further until it becomes a problem.

**I'm not smart but i tried.

Many stories of tragedy depend upon a person who denied fate....while many heroic stories lie with characters who (although unwillingly), on the other hand, accepted their fate. This is true from ancient myths to modern films. I do believe in fate but my believe isn't so strict as these myths and blockbusters. I think fate and free will are at a tango. I think both dance together and create our outcome. It's a tango or a waltz between them two. P.S: All I am saying is don't sit in a chair and "wait for the universe to answer your call." (that is something ridiculously absurd I read in a book. But I do say, don't lose faith and hope in the possibility of fate. Remember their you and their are other forces that also work with you.

I do think fate rules people's lives.Just like the saying goes whatever happens is meant to happen.I know that so far in my life things have happened for a reason and that is fate working its magic.

Fate is nothing more than a random expression.
People and society rule peoples lives.
The way society is structured controls your future.
Everything you have can be taken away from you at any time.
Including your self respect and dignity.
A life is just what others allow you to make of it.

I don't believe in fate, I believe in choice. I believe many things are out of our control in this life. However I do believe we have the power to choose how we respond to those happenings. Moreover, that are responses ignite a response from others. Whether or not people choose to respond positively or negatively depends on the person. Sometimes people respond negatively to positive responses, and positively to negative responses, thus you have acts of grace, mercy, forgiveness, kindness, the act of giving credit when it is due etc. So to answer your question I believe sometimes we don't get what we genuinely deserve, and other times we do both good and bad. I do however believe there is a God that equips people if they choose with ways to handle and overcome such encounters in life, as well as teach others how to be become more "positive" actors in this life - not just to receive positive responses (as noted before positive responses don't always accompany positive action), but for his glory, because we are to love one another even when others do not love us. With this said I do believe a man or woman reaps what they sow... this is true if you believe positive things can come from negative things - think about it!

I strongly believe that fate exists but I do not believe that it RULES people's lives. I feel that our individual choices can change was is fated in our lives. I do not believe that our lives are already pre mapped out, my feeling is that we have a hand in our destiny.

Long ago, Western people in the Mediterranean region believed in the three Fates, goddesses who spun and eventually cut your thread of Life. I believe Fate is a factor in people's lives, perhaps as much as what we decide to do with Life.

We must better learn to be open to Fate for its goodness and fight when we can its negativity. We must learn to be receptive to what is "in the air," as they said in the 1920s in Paris.

I cannot accept that Fate rules us totally. If so, why make a decision at all? Why not be ridiculously risky with your life at the expense of the love for you that is generated by others? We are given Free Will (perhaps too much freedom it would seem), and that coupled with Fate determines one's outcome, day by day and the inevitable end.

If a person decides to kill herself and succeeds, then it is Fate who has whispered in your head, "It is time." If a person decides to kill himself and lives anyway, then it is Fate whispering, "It is not your time."

Lucky people then are people whose fate is good?

Unlucky people have someone throwing dice against them?

I go for a moderate answer. There are a lot of things you can do to improve your lot in life, but pianos sometimes fall out of windows.

I have to wonder why people think that it has to be all fate or all self determination. Always with the absolutes and opposites, people are... (;?)

Methinks the universe is more complicated than that.

Hmmm..for once I get sensible asker's comment..well my strong opinion is we make our life..Life is what we make it, we control our lives, we manage our activities..I don't beleive in fat or destiny, there should be a direction, fate comes for those who hope and do anyhting about it..life should be lived and not existed only..and while we breathe we aim, we target our peurpose in life, and it is the driving force why we live ..so nothing about fate.........
