How can I get my aim away message to stay up?

Every time i leave my away message up for more than an hour and i come back on the computer i'm totally signed off. How can i get it so i stayed signed on and my away message stays up?

I have the classic 5.9 version.

If you're totally signed off it sounds like there is something disconnecting you from your Internet after so much inactivity. You need a program to keep your Internet "alive"
