it will take a lot less space and time if you consider copying only the files you want rather than all the files of your old hard drive. most people want to keep photos, documents, web favorites, etc. find these files/folders in the directory (right click on "start", select "explore", look for the folders you want to copy). right-click on the file you want to copy, select "send to", then send it to the flash (aka "thumb") drive which will probably be listed as drive "e" or "f".

once you get the files you want saved to the flash drive, insert it in the new pc. when the new pc recognizes the new thumb drive you can copy it over to the "c" drive on your new pc by using the same process as before... highlight all the files on the thumb drive, then right-click on the highlighted files, select "send to" from the drop-down menu, select "c", enter. the files will be transferred to the new pc. have fun.

There are several ways, but the easiest (and fastest) is simply to remove the internal hard drive from your old computer and plug it into your new computer. Once this is done you can then either copy all the files off the old hard disk to your new disk, or simply use the old disk as a secondary disk (retaining access to all your files)

Yes. It's part of XP and I'm sure Vista.

Click on Start and then on "Help and Support". Type, "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" into the search box and the instructions will be presented.

Hope this helps.

This program called AlohaBob is commonly used to transferr files to a new computer via USB. I would look for it at officemax or another office supply store. This differs from others in that it transferrs programs without needing the codes from the boxes to reinstall.

You can buy a 2GB USB flash drive at Walmart for 30 bucks or less. You can get bigger, but the price goes up accordingly.

You will have to burn them to disk on the Dell, then install them on the Acer.
