I didn't have meds with our daughter and I had vomited all the way through the delivery. As someone else said, that was not my concern at all. Hers was a 12 hour labor. His, 28 hours.
Many times when you reach "transition" you begin to feel queasy and begin to vomit. That's what happened to me. I didn't actually push her out, I was vomiting. Sad but true!
With our son, I had an epidural after the 25th hour of labor- and it was for prepping for a C-Section- which I never had. Anyway, I had no vomiting at all.

Narcotics delivered through an epidural can cause itchiness, particularly in your face. They can also cause nausea, though this is less likely with an epidural than from systemic medication, and some women feel nauseated and throw up during labor even without any pain medication.
but i agree- i dont think that that is going to be your biggest worry. not at all. if you throw up you throw up. youre having a baby! :)
but yeah- go to that website- it tells you all of your options and their pro's and con's. good luck- and again- the epidural is worth it- but its good to know what youre getting yourself into so keep researching- just dont stress over it- because in the end you will be absolutely fine and you'll be holding your brand new baby in your arms. youll feel great no matter what. :) congrats and good luck!

as last contibuter said-you may get sick with or without epidural. Try not to make any permanant decisions before going in-just go in with a open mind and see how things play out-Labours vary and what you may need for this labour may be diffrent from your next. My first labour was over 12 hours of unpredicatable but fast painful contractions and epidural was my only relief-however my second was a 4 hour labour with simple clear cut contractions so I only needed the gas.

I did get nauseous with my epidural but I never threw up, and they never offered me anything to help with the nausea.

Well i didnt get nauseated or throw up when i got the epideral. All i know is that i was in heavy (i was in sooo much pain with out it), but i did notice and also read that it can effect your milk supply, which happen to me. I was determine to breastfeed my son but at the hospital i wasnt producing enough milk for him. And the reason i say that is because he was doing the recommended dirty diapers they insist newborns have. My son is now 6 weeks old and is formula fed.

I don't think naseau is very common... if you do have it they can give you Zofran through your IV and it will help.
I had the epidural and was a teeny naseaus for about 10 minutes and then I was fine.

I threw up all over the bed and didn't have an epi. Don't worry about it, once your stomach is empty you won't feel nauseous anymore.
