Because they want to spend money on unimportant things like the war that's going on, but here we have people right in our own background who are struggling to survive but we ignore them.

Let's face it, Bush sucks!

This goes back to the fact that 99% of congress are millionaires. The money that would go to healthcare for the very future of America best serves the members of congress if it goes into the coporate welfare bills. As previous mentioned is the fact that most lower income people don't bother to vote. That is a big mistake on their part. There are so many of the American people that are on the lower side of the income scale that the power of their vote would be felt in any election. As the very wealthy of this country become even more wealthy their greed or desire or power( the most dangerous of all) for more will become greater. How many statements or questions have you read in YA's that purvey the feeling that everybody should take care of themselves?
A very dangerous position to take. Sometime in every ones life they might need a little help in surviving. Today on top of the world, tomorrow is in question!!!

It's the obstructionist Republicans and George W. Bush who are denying low-income children acces to health care. I don't make a lot of money, but I'd be willing to pay more as well, if it meant that no American would have to decide whether or not they could afford to take themself or their child to see a doctor. The US government gives away $92 BILLION dollars a year in Corporate Welfare to companies who have profits in the millions and billions. If we can help the most fortunate among us, why can't we help the least fortunate?

The only ones opposing it are the Republicans in Congress and the President.

this is in simple terms about mathematically impossible for the republicans to regain administration of the senate in basic terms a million/3 of the senate is up for reelection. some republican senators are retiring in 2010 as nicely this is fantastically unlikely they'd have administration of the senate.

have you not heard of medicaid health care ins for the poor, maybe you have not heard of the child health care protection ins.i.e.chcp program, that which the dems/libs accuse Bush of vetoing two weeks ago,or have you heard any American can go to a hospital and receive emergency care no ins required,or is it as simple as the parents(democrat voters) are to lazy to do what ever it takes to get their child the proper health care, and as usual will blame republicans for their failures as parents!

there is no money for one, so if they did taxes would go up and generally the people who vote have health care already.
