Though it is a tempting thought when you think about the idiots out there, forced sterilization is not something that would be supported in a democratic society. It's one thing to make the decision to sterilize yourself, but force someone to sterilize themselves based on some mandatory policy set by mad scientists is not just immoral, it's intolerable. The U.S. practiced forced sterilization on the metally ill for a while. It fell out of favor because people saw it as being too closely aligned to the Nazis Germany way of thinking. Since the U.S. does not want to be associate to that kind of practice, forced sterilization was stopped. And to be quite blunt, no doctor or mad scientist has the right to make that kind of major life decision for another person.

It's never been considered moral.

Even a comparatively reasonable program of voluntary sterilization was rejected in the US some 50 years ago.

Because it takes away free will and civil liberties. Plus that pesky Bill of Rights might be in the way, maybe a few amendments...

Although I think it should be practiced...no offense to the Bush daughters.
