Zero is as an empty place indicator to show that 2106 has a tens position because 216 is a different number. The second use of zero is as a number itself, in the form 0.
If you count anniversaries you count from zero but if you count things you count from one.
"zero" derives from the Arabic sifr which also gives us the word "cipher"

well of course zero exist or you wouldnt be able to ask the question about zero. who invented it no clue prob the same perosn who invented all the other numbers. and ok zero is a big factor in everyday life. the fact yes you add it to numbers to make it a bigger number, but also zero means none. so when someone is say doing inventory and has to mark what they need they cant just put none in the lil box so they put a 0(zero). lmao i think im tlkaing in riddles here. lol. good question though makes ya think and thinking is good. :]

I'm just guessing but it probably represents a hole, with nothing in it, and was the easiest way for early cavepeople to express that concept. Draw a hole, people get it.
As far as the existence of the concept of zero goes, I'll leave that to the philosophers.

yes,zero exists,it's the first number upon which counting is based.If you are paid 1000 bucks,you'll end up with a penny(not 1 buck(100 cents,these 00s should go,too)
