lcd is 15

-1/3=-5/15
+4/5=12/15

you need common denominators. so since 3, 5, and 15 are related. your common denominator is 15.

multiply -1\3 by 5\5 and 4\5 by 3\3 do some math, then add and subtract across, keeping 15 as the denominator in your answer.
