Actually, President Bush asked to bring it up to review it. Not entirely sure who wrote it, probably was the UN. Bush asked to have congress look it over, so he must have interest in it. I know the Navy likes it, and wants it signed.
This treaty is a disaster, as well as any international organization or treaty we align ourselves with, and let supersede our laws and Constitution.
From what I know of this treaty, any resources collected would have to be redistributed among the signees of the treaty, no matter the level of involvement or amount of investment put into collecting the resources. Basically international wealth redistribution. Nations not involved in the treaty do not have to redistribute any of the resources collected by them. The nations that sign this will definitely benefit from us, since we have the most money and strongest economy. Of course there is a lot more to this treaty than what I stated.

It doesn't matter who wrote the treaty, or who brought it up... if we sign onto it it is binding.... so if Bush is at fault it will be because he signed and Congress ratified the treaty... Like the Law of the Sea treaty now up for consideration (again) it will take Sovereignty away from the US.... If President Bush signs the Treaty that is a bad thing. Along with NAFTA, the North American Union, and other chips at our Sovereignty we will soon no longer be a individual Nation.. there will no longer be a USA.. your liberty will be gone... This isn't a party issue... *BOTH* parties are selling out this nation for their piece of the power.... Sad... really and truly sad...

UN done it ...........Your right ....I wish the US would finally just say FK you to the UN , they are not worth a dayum anyway ....
The UN even wants a world tax , yet the USA will pay 35% of the set tax because we have more money ....they are nothing more than over paid crybabies , when my kids whine as much as they do , they get punished , ....the UN should become a thing of the past ..

The UN is a disaster. That is why bilateral negotiations fail.
That is also why Africa is a mess. (the UN did nothing to help them anyway, its not the UN's fault, they just suck at resolving situations)

It passed the senate. People really need to step up on this issue or it won't be "lost" anymore.
