ok lets throw out the fact of getting homefield advantage and momentum of beating an undefeated team. what the media is building this up to be the "super bowl" cause its not. One of these teams has got to win and it doesnt nessecarily mean the best team is going to win.. (especially if its won by a field goal) and one has got to lose. at the end of the day its just gonna be another game and one team will have another win and the other will have *****1*****loss which wont decide their season....but you can bet ill be watching :)

Clearly this is a game of two very good football teams, that alone makes it more interesting than a contest between two poorly performing teams. I would much rather see a game between two good teams than two mediocre teams.

Add the fact that they both are undefeated and you create a game where someone has to take a fall. There is a lot of prestige at stake here, which will motivate the players to deliver their best. Two very good teams could become two great teams.

You are right, the best team may not win, the football can take some funny bounces, but in the long run the likely outcome is that the best team will win, and stay unbeaten for at least one more week.

I think New England will win it, but it will be very close.

On any given Sunday, you may be right about home field advantage. But the championship game (which is the next meeting of these two probably) will not be just any game. They do not like each other. The Pats are spoiled, cocky and arrogant. The Colts (Dungy and Manning) are good ol boys, married to their sweethearts, realize their is life besides football etc.

The difference between playing indoors on carpet vs cold, snowy New England is BIG. So this game is big. It is essentially a 1 1/2 game lead on home field for the winner.

Hilster = with these 2 history shows just the opposite, they dont split very often.

As has been said the homefield advantage in January will be a big deal. Other than that yeah, both teams will survive till then .
Oh, and it has meaning for those who bet over/under on when the pats will clinch playoff berth/division

As much as I'd LIKE the Colts to win this game, it would'nt bother me if they did'nt. WHY? Because it's very likely these two will meet in the AFC Championship game. You know BOTH teams are going to want "tape" on each other to study for that, or any future game. So, if you are EITHER coach, how much do you "show" this week at Indy? Belichek may "dial it down" to keep certain things "under raps". A conservative game plan would be out of character for him this season. But do you think he wants Freeney drawing a bead on Brady.
This game is going to be HOT if they play "all out".
T.O. had better get HIS popcorn ready!!!!!!!!

I agree that homefield doesn't amount to that much, the only place where that really matters is in college. The only thing the winner will gain is momentum and confindence because everyone predicts them to meet again, and both teams are capable of winning the whole thing.

Well first off the home field will mean alot. granted now days it is not as big as it used to be. Secondly there could be a tie. That would niether help nor hurt either team. Then there is the fact that one team will be undefeated after the game

if the pats win this week the afc winner has to go thru foxboro, mass. and the colts dont play so well there in january. but the bigger story is that Brady will prove who is the better QB when given the same offensive arsenal. and no, the patriots are neither spoiled or arrogant. New England fans have known this all along. pats. 49, Colts 21

The three times these two teams have played against each other in the playoffs (since Brady and Manning have been QBs), the home team has won all three games (Patriots twice and Colts once).

Homefield in New England means you go to the Super bowl so I think its a pretty big deal. I wanted a competitive game though and the pansy Marvin Harrison isnt going to play so there goes the game of the century. What a gigantic let down.

Absolutely not. in Play-Offs time colts never won in Foxboro, neither did the pats at colts. Who ever wins this game has an extra step to win the Superbowl.
