Personally, It would definately have to be the Detriot Red Wings and the Colorado Avalanche.

How about you?

It's fine rivalry but we start with the original Leafs and Habs. Avs and Wings have played fewer regular season games against each other than Leafs and Habs have played playoff games against one another.
Try to remember folks back in the 6 team league with 70 games, those teams played each other 14x a year and then met up again in the playoffs. That creates a lot of animosity.

I do miss those Quebec/Montreal games. Man some of those were wild. I also think the NYI and NYR is akin to but slightly smaller than Mets/Yankees. Some new ones are developing.

The Red Wings, Avalanche Rivalry is dead now. I'm sure it may heat up again seeing as how good both are doing now, but ever since the 7-0 thrasing in 2002 the rivarly has been dead.

As for best the people of alberta has a little something that would dwarf any competion in terms of tenacity, passion, and fan base.

Keep in mind that the Avs were originally in Quebec City.

Anyway, I'd be more inclined to say that any rivalry amongst the Original Six - Blackhawks, Bruins, Canadiens, Maple Leafs, Rangers, Red Wings - is a bigger rivalry than Red Wings-Avs will ever be (especially Leafs-Habs).

The Blues and Blackhawks used to be legendary for their brawls during games, but that was quite a while back. With the turmoil in the game the past 5 years or so, we haven't had much time to sit back and enjoy good rivalries, but I have a feeling that will change soon.

Depends. Ottawa fans would probably tell you its Sens vs Leafs. Most Toronto and Montreal fans would say its Leafs vs Habs. I'm sure most teams have their own rivalries based on geography, but the Leaf/Hab rivalry goes back 90 years, taking name changes into consideration.

Habs and Leafs is a heated match up that is defenetly fun to watch.

All time though it was defenetly Quebec vs. Montreal, every game was a different brawl lol, its AMAZING to watch.

Habs vs. Bruins is an overrated rivalry that people are trying to make or force rather then to let it develop.

Devils- Rangers
Red Wings- Avalanche
Kings- Ducks
The Atlantic Division

There hasn't really been much to that rivalry. I think the biggest ones are the more traditional Detroit-Chicago and Montreal-Toronto rivalries.

The battles of Quebec (no longer), Alberta and NY resulted in some of the best matches I've seen in 25 or so years of following the sport.
