it's a 1998 chevy, stock pipes, with a catillac converter and a big stock muffler i just want to know how to get it loud, with out spending all my gas money

Buy a glass pack for your truck. They can get really loud depending on the truck the are installed on. Surely if about 12 or 13 teenagers (between 16 and 18 years old) can afford a glass pack for their trucks then surely you can too.

Easy way - punch some holes in your muffler. It will sound loud, but probably like **** at the same time.
Other cheap way - go to autozone and pick up some straight exhaust piping, cut your muffler off, put those on, and bolt a tip on.

By law you cannot remove the cat. but you can remove the muffler as long as the dbl's are within allowable range .
A problem you may have is that with the muffler removed your fuel millage , hp and torque may suffer. the fix for this is a replacement cam for an earlyer engine , as this cam requires hi backbreasure in the exhust.

Idiot kid loud? - Cut off the muffler
Just a little louder - Cut a 2" hole in the bottom of the muffler
*Note* Unlikely either will pass inspection if you live in an area where they still do that. In Arkansas, they don't do inspections for licensing anymore, they just let the police site you for faulty equipment.

Take off the cat. converter take off the muffler and your done. Thats as cheap as you can go.

replace the stock muffler with a "cherry bomb" muffler.
They run about $20 and you can do it yourself.

replace muffler with a cherry bomb ,don't do it if its not a v8, its just annoying,oh yea don't tell the cops
