Sun Laundry Detergent. I bought it cause it was inexpensive and inexpensive to use and it doesn't have any perfumes or dies in it. However I've used Method Laundry detergent (pretty good but expensive)m and Arm and Hammer's new plant based stuff, which is good also. I try to stay away from the super huge names like Tide, Cheer, Surf, because those companies "test" on animals and their products are too synthetic

Tide ... we used to use the more 'ecologically sound' detergents, but after experimentation, we've found that we can use much LESS Tide, and have a far lower impact on the ecology than if we use the 'more ecologial' brands ... but we are older and we don't get our clothes as dirty as we did when we were younger, so that may have something to do with the AMOUNTS of detergent we now use.

I use Tide, because it works really well. The best detergent I've ever used is Persil, it has to be imported from Europe so it's too expensive to buy all the time, but Tide is a very close second.

Buy 4 gallon bucket of granular laundry detergent for about $13 for basic laundry and freshening.
AND a cheap liquid laundry detergent to pour full strength onto spots/stains (rub into fabric) prior to the machine.
Done this combo for many, many years - - clothes clean.
To add extra whitening, sometimes add granular water softener into wash. Bleach is fine for whites if they are cotton. Most fabrics have cotton blends and bleach eventually yellows it.

I use Era. Started using it when my kids were small.....about 20 years ago and I still love it! Seems to clean the best of all the detergents I've tried.

Tide, because I am allergic to almost everything else and tide gets clothes CLEAN. Hubby works in a steel shop and it never fails to get the black stains from his clothes. And this new tide they have with baking powder that is lilac scent, smells like baby dreft and I LOVE that smell hehehehehe!

Tide. Been using it for over 40 years. No particular reason. It has always gotten the job done so I never had a reason to try anything else.

I use All Free and Clear. It's supposed to be good for high efficiency washers and keeps my babies' skin from breaking out. I also use Downy Pure Essentials in Aloe and Lilac scent. It smells SOOOO good!!
