Since we are becoming known for overthrowing 50 DEMOCRATIC Govts, I would imagine a normal response would be self-defense and unfortunately our troops bear the brunt of these unwise actions.

One man's "terrorism" is another man's "resistance". The central question is Justice: "Right" vs. "Wrong", etc.

What I find strange is the lack of terrorism in the face of injustice. How many Southern "whites" were murdered or had their buildings burnt during the days of lynching? Never heard of it.

On an international scale, take Vietnam as an example. Three million people were killed over a 30 year period, starting with Truman's aid to the French invasion of 1946. France suffered few incidents over a 10 year period. Over a 20 year perios, the US suffered one unintended death from terrorism. (That came from a miscalculation during the bombing of a Wisconsin University laboratory). There were no trains de-railed, oil tanks blown up, etc.

Instead, Senator John McCaine is considered a hero because he was imprisoned after being caught while dropping napalm on children.

Was JFK's assassination due to an oppressed terrorist? A Cuban? A Vietnamese? Apparently not, but why not other terrorist acts?

Similar results can be shown for the more successful "regime changes": Iran in 1953, Guatemala in 1954, Chile in 1973. We can also cite the murder of Patrice Lumumba in Africa, among others.

Somehow, certain oppressors get away with murder. There may be a lack of terrorist instinct in human nature.

Anything is possible but it would be a pretty ignorant way to look at things. Terrorism was around long before the US and will be here after. Only savages attack innocent women and children intentionally. Making excuse for the scum of the world rather than holding them accountable is NOT the answer

That's actually a good way to describe it, a reaction to perceived oppression.

"Following an established pattern, Bin Laden acknowledged his support for the hijackers and repeated his claim that strikes on American targets should be viewed by Muslims and Americans as a defensively motivated response to perceived American aggression in the Islamic world." - CRS report for Congress

"The call to wage war against America was made because America has spear-headed the crusade against the Islamic nation, sending tens of thousands of its troops to the land of the two Holy Mosques over and above its meddling in its affairs and its politics, and its support of the oppressive, corrupt and tyrannical regime that is in control." - Bin Laden, in an interview with John Miller of ABC
