ok well first you need to multiply the left side out
4*7- 4*2x=-10x-2
28-8x= -10 x -2
OK so get the x's on one side
28-8x-28=-10x-2-28
-8x=-10x-30
-8x+10x=-10x-30+10x
2x=-30
x=-15
BIO student made one mistake..he said that -8x+10x= -2x
when of course -8+10 = PLUS 2
therefore the answer is
not
-2x=-30 , it is 2x=-30
therefore x is NOT 15 but X is -15
also dont listen to the MORON below who calls th rest of the people ignorant..he just did the question a little bit differently
if 30 = -2x
theb BY GOD x has to be -15!!!!!
Pure math shows that -2(15) =-30 not 30
but -2(-15) =30
SO this crap he is saying about something becoming positive once it passes the equal sign is pure nonsence.

okay rather simple here: 4(7-2x)=-10x-2
28-8x=-10x-2
28+2=-10x + 8x
30= -2x
x=30/2
x=15
