...to the best of my knowledge (...and 'my knowledge' is most profound, and all-powerful), there has been no word, at least not as yet, as far as a sequel to director Peter Jackson's recent remake of "King Kong"...

...there was a direct sequel to the classic 1933 original "King Kong", also from '33, and entitled "The Son of Kong"; in the film, some of the explorers, who originally stumbled upon the original Kong, return to the island, and discover that he had an offspring. The little guy was about half the size of his dad, had albino-colored fur, and was pretty much a big, tough and clumsy teddy bear, in disposition...

...then, of course, there was the 1986 sequel to that gawd-awful 1976 remake of "King Kong" (...to this day, I still have yet to figure out how this travesty of a film, actually tied with the classic, brilliant and slick sci-fi actioner, "Logan's Run" for the 'best special effects' Oscar), entitled "King Kong Lives". The second film was actually better that the first one, despite the same level of substandard special effects; it was hilarious campy, over-the-top, and refused to take itself seriously...

...still, history HAS repeated itself, in the case of "King Kong", and I would imagine that someday, someone might take up the task of returning to Skull Island yet again, in either a sequel to Peter Jackson's epic film, or perhaps yet another remake, years from now...

...who knows??? Stay tuned!!!

There have been a couple sort-of sequels to the original 1933 version over the years:

King Kong Vs. Godzilla (1963)
King Kong Lives (1986)

...but there is no sequel to Peter Jackson's remake.
