they're not acting like Republicans they've been hijacked by Zionist supremacist neocons - who only care for one country.

Hi Ike.
A better question would be why can't our politicians balance the budget. Not just Republicans.
I'd like to know too.
I blame the school system that "educated" our leaders...haha
No more Republican cracks or I'll kick the baby!
Oh hell, go for it, I'm going independent anyway!

Well, if you were given trillions of dollars, would YOU worry about balancing a budget, or even trying to spend that money frugally and responsibly?
Republicans or Democrats will NEVER work toward fiscal responsibility until 'we the people' make them pass a law that requires them to work within a balanced budget and ALWAYS maintain a budget surplus. -RKO- 11/01/07

Most can, but democrats tend to be more parsimonious when fiscal policy is concerned. I have a gut feeling though that our debt will not be decreased by an acceptable margin in the next presidents term which is depressing.

Because their major campaign contributions come from Big Oil and the defense industry. Their other source of income is wealthy individuals who want tax cuts. Only cons are stupid enuf' to think they wage wars and cut taxes.

Don't matter what party is in office the answer to this question is GREED!!! We pay them enough to fix about any problem but perhaps it boils down to we pay them to much and balancing the budget may cut down on their pocket change. :-\

Because Bush has plundered the surplus and driven this great nation into debt. I'm convinced it is for some self-interest that he elected to do this to America.

No one in their right mind should worry about balancing this silly agglomeration. Hats off to politicians (like John Edwards) who recognize this. We should worry instead about putting aside enough to deal with past obligations, devoting no more than we can now afford to current needs, and making adequate future investments – even if we have to borrow in order to make them.

because democrats are in charge of both houses and taking a tax increase away from the pelosi reid regime would take nothing short of divine intervention.

The second a democrat goes back into office you'll be asking the same question all over again.
