Well, being that it's a diesel engined car, diesel is the fuel of choice. The car will not like petrol, whatever your feelings.

Slight reduction in performance with D. MOT requires a smoke test that can damage a badly maintained engine. Much lower fuel costs (Clarkson did London Edinburgh and BACK on ONE tankful as a challenge). Slightly worse pollution if you take the soot particles into account. No limit on the quantity of D you can store at home if there are fuel protests again

if the car needs diesel,use diesel ,any other fuel would be desirous.

I have a friend that has a old diesel benz -
It is peach colored - and he drives it everywhere.
Ugliest car I've ever seen.
