I'm not sure why but this year in school I don't take most of my classes seriously. i'm not doing that bad in school, however I do wish I could do better. I just feel like most of school is such a joke and most of the kids at my school don't care about anything that matters. This is my junior year in hs and I know its the most important but its hard to care when you know everyone else doesn't care about what matters, even in the honors classes people just thinks its ok to cheat and bs through everything, as long as theres a good grade for college. no one cares about real education and learning anything. i understand its hard to care about what you're learning when all that matters to colleges are numbers (your overall average) also, i have issues with my schedule, i seem to come home and i plan to study ahead for tests that are coming up, but then whenever i read a textbook i just fall asleep, even if i've already taken a nap. even if i havent gotten much done, i still dont get enough

I don't know. It sounds like you're projecting your own lack of motivation onto your classmates. Something changed in you this year. You need to look into yourself to find out what it is. It's OK to just want to make it out of school. Not everyone has to be a deeply concerned intellectual. This includes you. At the same time it's OK to want to do better in school. What do you want is the question.
Lots of things could be happening to you. You're moving closer to finishing high school. A lot of fears, questions and concerns about what to do and what it's going to be like could be popping up. Maybe you're not even sure if you want to go to college. It's OK to be uncertain. It's OK to have fears about the future. Actually, if you were certain about your future that would be less normal than if you weren't. Use these feelings to drive you to get more information about the things that concern you.
Give yourself a break. Allow yourself to be human. Look into yourself and find out how you feel about things. Maybe you're more like your classmates than you want to admitt.

I understand what you mean, I also am a junior, or should i say would be, if i were still in a public high school. I am now doing online classes, being homeschooled and am able to go to college already. I think that it helps when there isnt many people around to distract you because like you said, its hard to care when nobody else does. I think that the best thing to do, is to realize what is the best for yourself, learning wise and do what you need to do. I think we all, sometimes fall asleep every now and than while reading a textbook or so, i know i did only because it got me so bored. Other than that, think about whats going to happen in the future as well, do you want to do good ? See where, and how far ahead you get compared to those in your class who dont care. Even though its work, it is all worth it in the end. You wouldnt wanna be making burgers or flippin pizza all your life would you. Oh man, i just made fun of myself haha, i work at a cicis pizza. But not forever !

I am the same way. I'm a sophomore, and I really don't like school. As with you, I have a hard time paying attention or anything, and a lot of kids at my school cheat there way through, even though the teachers know and obviously don't care. I don't really think cheating is right so I don't do it. I don't know, back in elementary school, I used to be really smart, but when I went to middle school, it all went downhill. I think most of this is due to the fact that I quit playing piano when I got in middle school, due to the shortage of time. I think this is the reason why I don't get as good as grades as I used to. So, if you want to get better grades and you want a hobby, you could try starting music lessons. Not only are they fun and they help make you a lot smarter (in my opinion), they'll probably be useful for you some time later in your life. Another thing you could do is join a club or something that the school offers. I particularly am in the FFA and I really, really enjoy it and it helps give me a motive to keep my science grade up. Anyways, good luck, and if you want help on homework or something, add me on AIM, or Yahoo messenger. My usernames for both are sethm013. I'll see if I can help you out with something.

Okay i was just like you... probably still am...i dont like college. you are just getting ready to hitchhike it out to college. but listen take from some that knows, if you do what everyone else is doing you'll end up feelin it forever. i chose not to take math in my senior year and now im struggling in it know. Life gets very hard, college is really hard its not just a summer breeze that passes you by. Please try hard. About the studying thing, turn off the TV do not lay down when you study thats a big no-no. Form a study group with people who are trying to pass to their senior year (trust me it works). make sure you study soon as you get off make a schedule like study for an hour take shower, Watch 30min oof TV and tape the rest, have 10mi talk on the phone time and go back to studying then after that rest. Highlight notes that are important to you (ie: definitions, what teacher writes on board, and also anything the teacher repeats) well thats all i got to say well have a good one

I don't get it - what does it matter what your friends think about school? If they don't care, that's their problem. Your not caring is YOUR problem - and it could develop into a big one, especially if you have your sights set on college. Join a club at school - Student council, FCA, whatever interests you. Meet some people who DO care about school. And, incidentally, I'll bet your friends really DO care - maybe it's contagious! Ask one of your friends confidentially if he/she feels the same as you, and then commiserate constructively - What can we do to snap out of it? Go to a school dance, pep rally, ball game, whatever. Start a study group for you and your "apathetic" friends.

I have the same thing at my school, Ill use physics as an example. In physics our teacher is always teaching us something very complicated in a short period so we have just developed to be smart about cheating rather than tryting to be smart in physics, some of the kids in my class could have a phD in cheating.

I have the same problem. It's like the previous years were so... alive and better, i guess. suddenly everything's dull and you could care less.
Just fight that feeling. After the reviews are done things will probably get better.
