I would wholeheartedly recommend to not do this at all. GM cars have a factory anti-theft system in them called VATS2. This system uses a 5V system that reads the voltage when the ignition switch is rotated with a valid key. If the voltage does not match, it disables the starter and fuel injectors and sets codes. What you have to do with an auto-start system is tap into these circuits. This usually upsets the low voltage circuits and causes problems with theft codes and/or no start situations. A lot of times people say this does not happen, but it usually does about one or two years after installation.

I installed one on our '99 Jeep. It is somewhat time consuming locating the correct wires to splice into etc. Your Pontiac has a passive security system which requires some additional work to get the starter to function correctly. I have a 2001 GrandAm, so when I was installing the on on the Jeep, I looked into it for the Grand Am as well. Did not feel it was worth it, but it is possible, and it done well, it won't damage your car.
