Ronald reagan still had to contend with a democratically controlled senate and congress. He was also trying to get us through a recession It was not until he started to take his agenda straight to the people and enact his line item vetoes was he then able to get things rolling. Our military had been striped to the bare bones by mr carter president reagan started building up our military back to a level that could deter the soviet union from challenging the west on its strengths. Jimmy carter left a legacy of failure and weakness that this nation should never return to ever and still to this day shows his failed character as a former president by bashing past and current leaders of this nation for their presidential decisions when he only needs to look into his mirror of history to see a real failed presidency. He should stick to building houses for the poor and passing out blocks of cheese.

But the Democrat Cheese Eaters had became so Dependent on Free Cheese, that Reagan was afraid they would starve if he took it away.
They didn't know how to take care of themselves without Government help.

"Government Cheese" was a hallmark of Reaganomics.
Pay farmers subsidies to produce milk.
Guarantee to buy every ounce of cheese made in the country.
Give the cheese to poor people, many of whom are lactose intolerant.
Then watch as obesity become #1 health problem in the country.

Where I live, we have a small chain of restaurants that got their start by using that cheese by melting it and putting it over their bacon egg on a biscuit. I hated that thing until they got rid of that awful cheese.

The cheese was already out of its cloth.
Reagan picked his battles and that was one he let slide to placant the left.
Think this anti-war crowd is noisy? They'd really start clamoring and crying if we ever took their cheese.
