LOL. It's been quite a few years since I ran out to buy icecream. And it wasn't here, but in San Jose. And they still
had trucks in the wintertime going through neighborhoods.
They had one ice cream bar I loved. Just the perfect milk
chocolate and vanilla ice cream. And every so often I'd hear
the tinkling of the music heading our way, and I'd grab my
wallet and run outside to wait. LOL. The little kid in me, I
guess.
Where I live now, the trucks stop after the warmer weather
leaves and the kids are back to school. So we won't expect
to hear the music til the first of summer next year. And you're
right, gone are the days, when it only took change to buy.

I had a friend who suggested that the solution to mass transit problems in Dallas was to give taxi licenses to all the ice cream trucks because there was one driving in front of his house every 15 minutes. Yes, we still have ice cream trucks and they are more of an annoyance than a nostalgic reminder of pleasant days gone by.

No, we don't have that anymore. We used to call him the "Dilly Bar Man". I guess because he sold treats from the local Dairy Queen. Someone else mentioned that the one in their neighborhood played the music "Turkey in the Straw". So did this one, it must be the national theme song for ice cream trucks.

Aaaargh! We have two different ice cream men who come through twice a day in the summer. $2.00 and $3.00 an ice cream. I just wish it were once every few days not four times a day. Since my four year old found out about it, he thinks he needs to buy one from them everytime so I'm constantly saying no. Then the neighbors buy one for him because they hear him crying.

I live in Texas and yes, he still comes by with his little "diddy" playing!
When I am working in the yard and he comes by, yes, it would be great to chase the truck...one more time! Fact is, I simply walk into the house and get a scoop of whatever flavor I want. No running and no having to dig for change, etc!

Yes. I live in Philadelphia, PA and all summer we get several ice cream trucks every day.
And yes, I have to resist the urge to run outside and get something. The prices are so crazy, that's a great deterrent.

Yes, it does. Sometimes, it plays "Turkey in the Straw".
The tune varies. It's here mostly in the summertime when
the kids are out of school. It used to have an ice cream
called "Fat Frog", which was green with vanilla ice cream,
and chocolate. I loved that treat. Haven't seen it for a
while, though. Has anyone heard of it? Yum!

I was a nanny for a passle of kids in Anchorage, the truck would come by and the kids would all start screaming and bawling for icecream Well their parents did not leave money for treats. I stopped the driver and told him when he came by me he had better be playin' some cowboy tune, it worked and the kids never even noticed the truck.

We don't have an ice cream truck in our neighborhood, nor did we when I was a kid. The first one I saw was when we lived in FL and one came through. We have a picture of my daughter getting her first ice cream cone at it. It was all so neat to us.
