Driving this car for a friend while he is away on business but he never told me which grade of fuel goes into the car. I have been using mid-grade. But want to make sure of which kind is specified for this car.
Thanks,

Federal law mandates that all cars sold in the US must be able to function properly on 87 octane. Since this is only the GT model there is no reason you should use anything else. A GTP/X would benefit from the higher octane.

I really have an un-modded 2004 Grand Prix GT. the different evening the street wasn't busy and truly clean. i desirous to gun it and attempt for myself what the precise speed of the automobile changed into. i changed into waiting to hit about 107-109 at the same time as the engine flat lined and my speed would not strengthen any more advantageous. I nonetheless have some more advantageous runs to have at before I thoroughly stick by technique of this yet it is what I hit at the same time as i tried at it.

okay, heres the deal. An octane of 85 or more is fine for any car, but usually (depending on where you live) the cheapest gas has an octane of 87.
If you want to be cautious, think of what your friend would buy. If he always puts in low grade gas, don't put in high grade gas. this isn't good for the car, but there won't be any real damage. The same goes the other way, if you think he puts in high grade gas, don't put in low grade gas.
So in a nutshell, you can put in the cheapest gas you can find. the reason why car dealers want you to put in higher grade gas is because it won't give you the performance that they advertised.

Read the owners manuel, im pretty sure regular unleaded would be fine but i'd use premium, keeps everything working better, but yeah mid-grade should be fine. I'd call your friend up actually if it doesn't tell you in the owners manuel

What does it say in the owner manual. GTP should use premium for max performance. On the gas filler door what's it say?
