Gee, my office parties were such fun. We were not allowed to have alcoholic beverages so I guess that is why my experience was different.

Even though my former employers did not celebrate Christmas. We went on a carol ship dinner cruise. .Every year several charter boats decorate and cruise Vancouver harbour and are joined by other lit boats

It was in a conference room of a nice hotel in downtown L.A. They had a band, dinner and lots of free booze (before the employer liability law). All we had to do was stumble into the elevator and open the door to our foom.

On a different note, I worked at an office that took the whole day off, no spouses, and went bowling! We were allowed two drinks. The food was catered. We mixed up the teams so that we all got to play each other. It was fun!

I am not sure I ever attended a good office party...you have to be on very good behavior, you shouldn't drink to the point of showing it, and in all, to me they are a bore. I would rather the money be spent as a Christmas bonus...hell, at least I could have used it ... I have been to office parties where people get very drunk, make total asses of themselves, and if you don't think it is noticed, you are badly mistaken. Anyone who wants a promotion better stay very sober at these affairs. Good luck, Goldwing

It's been years since I've really went to an office party. The small dinners my husband's employers had for the holidays were something I really enjoyed. We'd get dressed up and go to a nice restaurant for dinner and everyone could relax and visit. It was always very enjoyable.

One year we went to my bosses house for the party.
He had just moved into a new house and the backyard fence was not up yet, but he had a Hot Tub. We were all inside having drinks, but who should show up, but his next door neighbor who was also having a party, with a few of his party goers. They proceeded to get into my bosses Hot Tub, but not before some of them proceeded to remove "some" of their clothing. I will stop there, but you get the idea. It got quite interesting after that.
EDIT: Sorry not on our part!!! But the boss did have a two story and there was a lot of running upstairs to watch out the window at the going on from the neighbors and their guests that decided to visit my bosses hot tub.

About the time that became popular and expected is when I came in.....I never went to an office party before. We had token cheese trays in the lunch room for working Christmas.....but no...I NEVER went to an official "Christmas Party".

5 of us gals were single, we dressed to the 9's and sat at a table together, stayed sober laughed and had fun. Got our awards and we were the shining stars in the room with over 100 in it. Many more that were wild and crazy. but this one was the best, we were all in our 40's and 50's.

Each one we had when I was working in my last career....we always had it a co-worker's home which was lovely and super spacious and sat in the woods.

Their maid did the catering and the food was scrumptious and the company great!

We could sit in the library, the great room or out on the patio in decent weather or go for walks on the grounds.

We had a cute game we used to play to get our gifts [all unisex with no names on them] that always, but always erupted in battles for bottles of wine! lol
