I am 34 weeks pregnant with twins, both are breech, my consultant and I have had several discussions about the pros and cons of vaginal delivery versus c-section.
I was wanting to know if anyone has experience of delivering breech babies vaginally, and how other people found having a c-section in comparison to having a vaginal birth.
Thanks.

hi ive got 19 month old twins and i had a section as twin A was breech..im suprised that your doctor is even talking about letting you deliver naturally as it really is very dangerous to deliver even one twin naturally if they are breech..a breech birth can be very slow and the cord can slip out therefore cutting off the babies oxygen and twin 2 can go into distress very quickly...i wouldnt even try, theres lots of things that could go wrong

Don't take the risk of a vaginal delivery. In all honesty, I can't believe your consultant/doctor would even consider a natural delivery with breech and twins. Limbs can get stuck and cause may difficulties.
You should check in your area for a birthing class that lets you deliver a baby (using a mannequin of course). Actually trying to deliver a baby would let you see the difficulties.
You may have a longer recovery time delivering natural than having a C-section in this case.

My second was breech, I was going to try and deliver vaginally but she ended up being an emergency c section four weeks early. We do sometimes forget that a c section is major surgery. I would have a long and hard chat with your consultant and take his advice. Mine would have been quite happy for me to deliver vaginally and i discussed the options with him but every situation is different. I recovered very quickly from my c section in fact much faster than my first delivery. If you believe in homoeopathic remedies you could take some arnica afterwards(check with a qualified homeopath ). With an elective c section you can choose when you deliver which has some advantages... I wish you all the best with your decision. Take care

I know it can be done, but there are risks. It is possible that they could turn before you deliver. It's extremely common just to do a c-section because it's less risky for the babies and for you, generally. I am all about natural labor and everything, but if the babies don't turn and if you can't do turning excercises (sit on a huge pile of pillows or cushions and tip backwards with assistance, so your hips are elevated and shoulders are resting on the floor - stay there for 15-20 mins, then stand up with assistance and go for a long walk -an hour- once you feel babies turn) - I would opt for the SAFEST delivery possible. You have to weigh the pros and cons.
I did turning excercises and it worked with 1 baby, I don't know about twins. Gravity makes them want to be head down because the head is heaviest. Talk to your healthcare provider! Best Wishes!!!

My baby was breech throughout, and on the advice of my consultant obstetrician, I had an elected c-section. The reason for this was because of the risk if anything went wrong during the delivery, it would possibly result in an emergency c-section, which could put us both at greater risk. The only real draw back was post natal depression (but there were loads of other contributing factors, and it was 20+ years ago!)

hi,
my daughter was bum first (double breech i think they call it) all through my pregnancy and even though they turned her 3 times she would just move back,i went into labour and she was still the same i was given the choice but i wanted a natural birth as she was my second,i had no probs in delivery but my daughter for the next 12mths constantly had her legs up in the air like they was in the womb.i think there are a lot of pro's and con's to think about and i would recommend talking to your midwife thoroughly before you decide as she will discuss it with you in depth, looking back i realise how much danger i put myself and daughter in but it was not explained to me properly so good luck and really speak to your midwife or doctor.

my baby was breech and natural was never even discussed so i had section. my babies safety was paramount and vag delivery was too risky in my eyes.
babies come first ,not me in my book and if it means a few weeks of discomfort, then have the section.it wasnt as bad as i though anyway...i was driving a weeks later and healed really quickly as long as you shower every day and keep the wound clean.

twins and both breech your gonna have to have a c-section its way too dangerous a baby could get stuck thus killing both dont risk their lives or yours

c-section is a longer healing time and more pain after delivery

but they will give you pain meds.and make you comfortable

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE go with a C-Section. I very rarely see a doctor that will consent to a vaginal delivery even with ONE breech baby. With twins, it is 100% MORE risky. Don't chance it. Have the C-Section. Good luck & Congratulations on TWINS!!
