First let me say that I'm glad to see that you have actually watched the season of Private Practice and not one episode. Most people decided that they didn't want to watch after seeing the pilot, and that's not how it works. Sometimes you have to give a show time, and as Private Practice goes on, it just keeps getting better and better in my opinion. Grey's is just absolutely too much drama for me. I mean there is just drama on top of drama! There are so many people sleeping with each other in the same hospital that it's just weird. One of the things I prefer about Private Practice (or PrP as most of us fans abbreviate it) is that the humor and drama are balanced. With Grey's you get a laugh here or there, and then the rest is just drama drama drama. With PrP, you get loads of laughter for minutes on end, and then the next thing you know you're on the verge of tearing up because something sad and unexpected has happened. I love the sudden change in emotion that the show brings. Another thing is that a lot of people compare this show to Grey's due to the fact that they are written and produced by the same people, but YOU CAN'T DO THIS! They are totally and completely 100% different! Grey's consists of a bunch of interns running around with maybe four or five doctors. Everyone on PrP is a doctor with the exception of the character Dell who is studying to be a midwife. I feel like PrP gives its audience more adult situations due to the fact that these people are well into their careers and into their lives. They're still learning a lot about themselves though. With Grey's the characters really just have a lot of growing up to do period. A lot of people say that they don't watch the show because they don't like Addison, but Addison isn't the only character on PrP. A lot of the other characters have great background storylines that we are learning about more and more every week. Anyway, I'm gonna stop ranting, but I honestly enjoy Private Practice a lot more than Grey's. My mother was a Grey's fan and Thursday night she said "This season just isn't that good" and she actually went to sleep about ten minutes into the show. She told me today "I think I like that Practice" show better. Anyway, that's just my spin on things.

I LOVE both the shows! This seasons Grey's Anatomy is really great, how all the new doctors are bossing around the new interns. Private Practice is also really great as well. I like Kate Walsh. I didn't like her when she came in on Derek when they were married. But, I like very savvy and independent Addison, she's out looking for something like a relationship, a peaceful job, etc. But the thing is, although they are produced by the same person, they are kind of different. So you have to know what your getting out of the shows. Like, Grey's Anatomy is fueding and people that are younger. Whereas Private Practice, is people well in the careers but are still searching for something else. But I have to say that most of the time I find Grey's Anatomy just plain hilarious and Private Practice just plain shocking.

This is a hard one as spin offs are always compared to the origional show! So they already have this expectation to be great!
Greys anatomy is awesome! I love it and i dont miss an episode. Private practice has the same base line as greys anatomy but a different story line. Stick with it and give it a chance.
THis was the same with "Angel" the buffy spin off. It copped alot of flack and everyone said it was crap. but after you give it a chance it isnt too bad!
I say give Private practice the same go as you did for greys anatomy in the beginning!

No no, it showed 4 episodes in May and has been showing a new episode since march 30th. The ratings were falling, but they went up a bit this week. No word on Season 2, which I hope there is!
