The Met is funded by the state and directly by Londoners' Council Tax, so what is the point in fining the force? This indirectly fines Londoners. Will this come from the Met's budget, meaning policing in London will suffer a spending cut, or will it be paid by increasing Council Tax for Londoners?
Why don't they decide who the buck stops with (presumably Sir Ian Blair) and make him pay it personally?

Fred, Ken seems to think it is ok to shoot someone occasionally to "protect" Londoners. Presumably Mr Menezes was entitled to be protected too?

We the tax payers! But who's pocket is it going directly to anyways?! My answer would be to the said city's special interest group, which, say like if you are in the city of Los Angeles, CA. it would be to Mayor Antonio Veragosa's (AKA Antonio Reconquista) divorce settlement!
Then again, you are from England, I presume. . . A tax payer is a tax payer no matter what part of the world you happen to reside in!

No public body such as Government,Councils Met Police ,Nhs have any money it's all our money,so it will be us that pay.Sir Ian Blair like his namesake thinks nothing of telling lies to save his job,but he is a liability and should be sacked. If he is eventually removed he wont get a months notice but he will get a golden hand shae of thousands and a pension.

It's money that will go from one Government department to another. It will probably not actually be paid, just a tick in a book at HM Treasury. Where we have lost out is paying all the lawyers.
