I still feel the best war movie I've seen is Platoon, with Saving Private Ryan being a close second and more realistic depiction of war. As for the coolest I've seen, I will go with The Bridges at Toko-Ri or Stalag 17.

My personal favorite is Patton. Tora! Tora! Tora! is very good and also very historically accurate. I also think Full Metal Jacket was excellent.
