Well i think it all depends on the person, because i personally don't like the song. But from what i have heard...
The effect that this song has on teenagers is that it makes them feel empowered, as if it doesn't matter what the other people say. It tells people that they shouldn't worry about what other people think and just do what they think and feel is right.
The song tells you that you shouldn't let people "bring you down" (today).
I think that the song is for teenagers and anyone that likes it.
I think that this song could help some youths and teenagers that might have been going through a little bit of a rough time, and get the feeling of empowerment from listening to a song and believing it what it says and means..and interpretting it in their own way.
Hope I could help you out somewhat!

The song is something of a self-esteem builder in teenagers who are downtrodden (if that's the appropriate term.) Basically, it's telling the listener that they and everyone else is beautiful and special in their own way, and don't you ever forget that. If someone is being bullied or teased, or if someone is telling them they have no potential or won't amount to anything, they should never give into it, never believe that. It doesn't matter what other people say, because the most important person in your life is you, and if you keep believing that you are special, you'll have high self-esteem.

I think this song would be a big help for youths and teenagers.

BTW, it's "Don't you bring me down today" not "Don't you let me down today."

I like that song.......I don't see why that should effect any teenagers........not any more than other songs do or could!! I think that people who blame songs aren't thinking straight......no song ever effected my life as a teen....I either liked them or I didn't......didn't change who I am or would have been!!

I'm sure its helped lots of young people.
It's positive message helps build self-esteem for young people who might feel like they don't fit in or are not as pretty or not as thin as someone else. Adolescence is a hard time and peer pressure and societal models of physical beauty don't help much.
