Britian had a 3000 mile supply line to maintain- very expensive. It could not get enough troops to America to cover all the ground it needed to hold, since Washington showed them they could not have dispersed posts with the battles of Trenton and Princeton.
The Brits won most of the battles, but could not hold the ground, nor get a loyal government into place anywhere they held.
In the end, the war was too expensive!

a few reasons are: because of the long long supply route.
because of the long long delay in new orders.
because England wanted to control the leaders of her army in America, they did not trust them to do some things with out "permission" first. This delay caused them to lose battles.
Because the British fought in a stylized form of stand up in a long line and shoot at each other, while the Americans learned quickly that that was a good way to die, so they started sniping from cover and running away, this sucked the British into ambushes and caused greater losses to them. Plus, the British had to await re enforcements from England, while the Americans had all the help already here. It was just a question of getting them to work together as an "army".

Because of guerilla tactics. Americans used the natural terrain much better than the British, who were used to open battle tactics.

Also, the British were cut off from their supply source. Reinforcements were over 3000 miles away. They had no local allegences that were strong enough to support their army. They had no choice but to conceide before they were wiped out.
