This is a funny subject. We are all racists to some degree. Humans are programmed to discriminate, it's how we learn. Now, whether or not we set out to hurt others with unkind words or acts of violence on people we stereotype to be one way or another is where the right and wrong line is very apparent. Otherwise, here in America, Freedom of speech, thought and opinion have somehow eluded President Bush and are still a privilege to the people. We cannot control other people, only our reactions to our perceptions of what is. Sticks and Stones...The real question is how and who taped that "personal conversation"?!? Strange how it just came out of the blue and no one questions from where how and who?
P.S.
BTW- here in Hawaii we lovingly refer to people of African ancestry as Popolo's or more playfully Olopops. We have nicknames for all the diverse ancestry we live and work with pleasantly here in Paradise. It's only words people, actions are what really count! Imagine if all the Caucasians got offended being called a redneck? Pretty silly and that's all it really is. It's more racists to say only one color of people are allowed to say any certain word - down right unconstitutional!

I don't know, it seems a little strange that if you're NOT racist you could justify using that word. If he's not racist then he's really ignorant.
What I want to know is why celebrities get so much press when they go on these rants, but a world-renowned nobel prize-winning scientist did the same thing and he only got a couple of news articles. Not that I want his twisted ideas to get any more press, but why is it so important when a celebrity does it and not when a respected scientist does it?

He was convicted in the murder of a black man in Texas, back in the late 1970's. He certainly should be more sensitive to black people after this conviction.
He is a liar. He portrays himself as someone who has changed his life, and is a christian. But when I read his book he admitted to going on a 6 month crack cocaine binge back in the mid 1990's, and while he was a Bounty Hunter. This isn't the sign's of a changed man.

Isn't it amazing how so many people are coming to this man's defense?
He doesn't want his son to date a black girl for the simple fact that she is black and he "justifies" this by then saying that because she is black, he won't be able to use the "n" word around her (oh the poor dear doggie boy). How in the world can you NOT find that racist?
There are too many people who try to justify things that are just BLATANTLY out there.

First off, you shouldn't let TV educate you nor put its words into your vocabulary.
The word RACIST is used incorrectly thanks to TV.
A racist is a person who hates all people or all creatures of one race...regardless of its skin color, where its from, ect.
See, TV tries to convince us that skin colors are races. That really is similar to a caste system than man has used since Mansa Munsa.
BUT, if you cut open all of the people of different skin colors you find the same biology and blood color.
We are all the same
There is only 1 race = the human race
your question should be correctly asked this way :
Is Dog a bigot? ( or is dog predjudiced? )
a bigot is someone who hates over difference.
and
i think he is a closet bigot
and weak and phony
i dont get it...hes traces bails in Hawaii = paradise
if he was so hard = he'd relocate to NYC or Compton or somewhere mainland!
oh...and that N word?
its definition is a ignorant, selfish PERSON.
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SKIN COLOR
fugging TV sux

I listened to the tape and at the beginning sound like he was concerned that he uses the word and his son is dating a black girl so he didn't want the girl "think" that he is racist. But at the end is more like hatred and racist. so i don't know. Maybe he is, and is not the only one. now, do u think black ppl are as guilty as white ppl by using the word? I don't use the word, neither i'm black nor white. I still think is disrespectful and should not be used.

I really don't think he is........To live in Hawaii there is no color. He was on a PRIVATE phone call to his son and that call should have no been aired. If he came out and said it on his show or on aired interview then yes he would be. The n - word should not be used or taken lightly but it was a phone call not to be heard by millions.

No, Dog is not a racist. What I heard him say was that he didn't care who his son was dating, but he would not jeopardize everything he worked for because the girlfriend heard someone in the family use the N word, get pissed and run them through the tabloids. He clearly stated that the N word was commonly used in their family, and while I don't agree with that, it's the truth. I'm definitely not racist, but you have to admit that whenever a black person hears that word, fireworks fly and there is hell to pay. That's the point that Dog was trying to make.
BTW, he has a BLACK pastor who is standing up for him and publicly stating that Dog has been with him doing mission work for inner city kids. Big time racist, isn't he?
The major gist of the conversation with his son was that the girl was of questionable moral character, and Dog could see what was coming. The girl would be at the house, someone would use the N word (because it's the norm), she gets offended, and smears the Chapman name, or else sues Dog for everything he has worked his *** off for.
I agree with Dog.

I had friends that would use this term towards me when they were angry. I think people think in the most hurtful terms when they are angry and feel helpless. I think because of this though he will realize that the term he has refused to let go is as hurtful as has been reported. STOP USING IT!!!
Fat people can talk about fat people. Skinny people can talk about skinny people. My Mexican wife talks about Mexicans. But, unless I am in the category I may be criticizing I should speak to it. HELLO!!!
Black people use this term all of the time and if still offends some of us. We definately don't expect you a non-black to use it. Sorry, that the way it is.
